The Albany Indians bounced back after a loss to Westover edging Monroe 14-13 at Hugh Mills Stadium Saturday night. The Tornadoes were nursing a 7-0 lead at halftime and into the 3rd quarter when a snap went over the head of Monroe quarterback Charles Strafford. Albany's Juwan Young pounced on the ball giving the Indians good field position in Tornado territory.
Albany quarterback Emmanuel Byrd tried to take advantage calling his own number on a qb sneak that picked up big yardage all the way down to the goal line. He was called short of the end zone but Byrd sneaked in on the next play knotting things up at 7. In the end, the Indians came up with a goal line stand stopping Monroe short and picking up the 1 point win.
Albany improves to 2-1. The Indians will host Randolph-Clay on Thursday. Meanwhile, Monroe drops to 2-1 and will host Brooks County on Friday night. Both games will be at Hugh Mills Stadium.
