VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
A Valdosta man convicted of murder is sentenced to life in prison.
Judge Richard Cowart handed down that sentence to Richard Morrison.
Jurors found him guilty in July of murdering 45-year old Tammy Smith.
She was Morrison's girlfriend of 12 years.
She was beaten to death and her body was found on Cypress Street not far from her home in May 2009.
