Plant thieves hit Albany church

ALBANY (WALB) - Unfortunately we're getting used to hearing about copper thieves targeting churches. But one Albany place of worship was hit by some green thumb crooks.

Two rose bushes and two ferns are missing from Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on South Jefferson Street.

Members believe someone dug up the plants late Saturday or early Sunday.

They put a lot of work into their church grounds and they hope whoever took the plants will return them.

Church deacon Ricardo Sisney says they filed a police report Tuesday, but will not seek prosecution if whoever took the plants simply return them back to the church.

He believes someone may have stolen the plants then sold them.

If you have any information about who stole the plants call crime stoppers at 436-TIPS.
