Blazers have short week

Posted: Updated:

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
College football teams usually have plenty to correct after their first game.

That is true for Valdosta State.

Only the Blazers don't have a lot of time.

Coming off a double overtime win at Wingate Saturday, Valdosta State is back in action Thursday for their home opener against another South Atlantic Conference power Newberry.

Head coach David Dean says his Blazers could use a full week to correct some first game mistakes.

The coach is hopeful the Blazers Thursday night woes are a thing of the past after VSU went one and one on Thursday last year.

David Dean said. "We are starting to turn the tides a little bit on those Thursday night games. I can't put a finger on it. I don't know. I just don't want it to get in our guys heads. We just have to go out and play like it was a Saturday night."

VSU hosts Newberry at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
