Albany woman charged with stealing thousands from city

33-year-old Wyakemaia Holliday was indicted on 43 counts of theft by taking.

She worked as a probation officer for Professional Probation Services, a company hired to collect fines for Albany's Municipal Court. Prosecutors say she stole a total of $15,000 from January 2009 until she was fired in October 2010.

"This is just the beginning of this investigation. Those are the charges that have been leveled with regard to this particular individual," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards.

Professional Probation Services paid the stolen money back to the city of Albany.

The Sheriff's Office says Holliday has not yet turned herself in following the indictment.
