Baldwin Avenue burglary bust ends in bonanza of stolen goods

Investigators from several agencies worked together on a case that led them to this home on Baldwin Drive Wednesday night where they found tens of thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise.

"This afternoon around 4:30 PM agents from the Albany Dougherty County Drug Unit, Lee County Sheriff's Office, and Albany Police Department served a search warrant on the residence behind me," says Major Bill Berry, ADDU Commander.

A tracking system in a computer stolen from Lee County pointed investigators here.

"They developed some information based on a burglary they had in their county and some of the equipment had some tracking devices in it," says Major Berry.

The home was stacked with stolen goods, and police believe 6 to 8 adults and some children were staying in the home. Several were taken away in cuffs for questioning.

"Officers found numerous computers laptops, monitors, big screen Television, and jewelry."

Camcorders, lawn equipment, and even a full size A/C unit but during the search a new discovery changed the tone.

"And during the process of searching I started finding some weapons."

Now, investigators are working to figure out where the recovered items were stolen.

Some believe they're dealing with a major burglary ring. Police say those in custody could face numerous charges as this investigation continues.
