Man murdered at Albany club: Police search for shooter

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Police are searching for the suspect responsible for shooting  an Albany man early Saturday morning at the Sand Trap club on East Oglethorpe boulevard.

APD responded to the side, back parking lot of the Sand Trap around 3:00 Sunday morning after 25-year-old Deandre Deangelo Williams was shot to death in his chest and stomach.

The suspects drove off in Williams' SUV. Officers recovered the 2002 burgundy Cadillac Escalade at Dyson Court and 8 Mile road. A neighbor tipped off police after they  sent out a Nixle alert by phone.

Police say the victim and the suspect may have gotten into an argument before the shooting.

One witness, who doesn't want to be identified, says he was dropping off his friend at the Albany 8 Inn motel right next to the sand trap when he heard several shots near the fence separating the two properties.

"Everybody was saying please don't be dead, begging and pleading for him not to die. That was crazy. You don't see that everyday."

8 Inn Owner, Jay Patel says, mischief at the club next door costs him business.

"My businesses has been down 50 percent because of the noise," said Patel. "I have customer complaints all the time. They say they're never coming back here."

He's complained to police and city officials since 2007. Police say code enforcement would have to handle issues with noise and rowdiness.

Police are still searching for the suspect(s). Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is urged to Call Crime Stoppers at (229) 326-TIPS. They can remain anonymous.
