The Flint River Chapter of the American Red Cross in Albany has sent their Emergency Response Vehicle to Massachusetts.

The 'ERV' left just before 11:00 this morning with stops in Atlanta to pick up personnel.

It will head for a staging area in Massachusetts to wait further instruction on it's duties in the hurricane relief effort.

Interim Red Cross Director Nigel Poole says the vehicle is heading to Americus, then to Atlanta, then on to Massachusetts.

The ERV  is one of 200 vehicles that's been called into action for the Red Cross Hurricane Irene relief effort.

We'll have more on this story tonight at 6:00.
