ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Things are finally back to normal at an Albany Doctor's office more than two weeks after copper thieves stripped its air conditioners.

The staff at South Central Pediatricians is back at work after repair crews installed new AC units.

They even secured them with steel cages. It's been a busy few days since the doctor had to cancel all appointments last week.

"It's been pleasant and the patients have been grateful," said Dr. Sandra Cheevers. "Patients rescheduled and we're doing okay."

Repairs crews just wrapped up Thursday. Police haven't made any arrests in the theft.

One Albany church is also helping another that was hit by copper bandits.

Thieves tore up AC units at the Center of Refuge on West Highland Avenue.

Until repairs are made, members are meeting at New Dimensions Olive South on MLK drive.

The bishop at the Center of Refuge tells us she plans to install protective cages and an alarm system to protect the new units.
