Kingston could keep Moody AFB in his district

Posted: Updated:

It looks as if Congressman Jack Kingston's successfully lobbied state lawmakers to leave part of our area in his district.

The proposed map released Monday removed eight south central Georgia counties from the 1st District. Kingston wanted to continue to represent Moody Air Force Base.

The House redistricting committee put that area back in the 1st District Wednesday and also adjusted Sanford Bishop's 2nd District a little around Columbus.

Governor Nathan Deal also signed new state House and Senate maps into law, though they still must be approved by the Justice Department.
