ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Mitchell County Eagles are back and ready to defend their region one-a title.
Head coach Dondrial Pinkins believing the Eagles can repeat entering his third season at his alma mater.
The Eagles title hopes will depend largely finding a playmaker on offense after the loss of receiver Justin Scott-Wesley who is now playing at the University of Georgia.
Jacari Jenkins has shown the speed and hands to remind many in Camilla of Scott-Wesley.
The Eagles are excited with the return of 14 seniors including Freddy Pate on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Yancy Burns will also be playing both ways in the secondary and as part of the receiving core.
Pinkins says this year's group is more than eager to get past the first round of the playoffs.
Dondrial Pinkins said. "Just enthusiastic and ready to play the game of football. They have been coached well a great coaching staff on board this year. So hopefully they are prepared to go out and play hard every friday night."
Mitchell County hosts Westover on Friday night in their season opener.
