ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - Albany's Tony Zenon is getting a new number at Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech announced earlier this week that Zenon was changing to the number 9 worn by former quarterback Joshua Nesbitt.
AJC.com reported that Zenon was one of several players wanting that number and head coach Paul Johnson gave it Zenon based on expected playing time this season.
Georgia Tech is set to release their depth chart on Monday and Tony Zenon has been battling all August for the starting job to return punts.
Tony Zenon said. "It was okay. I am not used to sitting out. Patience is a virtue. Other than that getting some playing time. Hopefully, I will be getting some playing time and I am working hard to do that also."
Georgia Tech opens the season on September 1st at 7:30 p.m. against Western Carolina.
