Coffee loses QB for season

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Coffee High quarterback Will Gardner will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered Friday night against Brunswick.

Coffee High coach Ken Eldridge says Gardner suffered a torn ACL in his right knee attempting to recover a fumble in the second quarter of Friday's game.

Eldridge says Gardner will likely have surgery next week.

Will Gardner is committed to sign with Louisville in February.

Backup Suntory Long took over and led the Trojans to a 21-6 win over Brunswick.

Eldridge says Long is scheduled to start Friday's big game against Ware County.

The Ware County Coffee High game starts at 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jardine Stadium in Douglas.
