On Monday evening around 11:10 pm deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 2841 U.S. Highway West, Wiregrass Estates, lot #37, Valdosta regarding a domestic dispute between two parties.

While responding, the deputies were informed that the victim and her boyfriend, who live together at the residence, had been involved in a verbal dispute.

During the argument, Lemuel Armon Williams became even more agitated and retrieved a handgun from somewhere inside the residence.

Lemuel Williams pointed the firearm at the victim and threatened to "end her life." The victim and a fifteen {15} year old child fled the home and ran to a neighbors residence where 9-1-1 was called. Deputies also learned that three {3} other children, ages ten {10}, seven {7} and three {3}, were asleep in the living room of the home when the victim fled and had remained there.

After the deputies arrival several attempts were made to contact Lemuel Williams but this was unsuccessful.

Given the fact that Lemuel Williams was armed and there were children present inside the home, the Special Response Team of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was summoned to the scene.

At approximately 1:30 am members of the SRT approached the home and were able to make entry and safely remove the children without being detected by Lemuel Williams.

Once the children were removed, Lemuel Williams, who had moved to a bedroom, was taken into custody without incident.

The handgun used in the crime was later recovered by investigators.

Lemuel Williams was transported to the Lowndes County Jail where he continues to be held pending his appearance before a Magistrate Judge this afternoon at an arraignment hearing.
