Albany Police are searching for a group of men involved with a shooting. APD says the men actually shot in the direction of the officer while he was inside the cruiser.

Police were sent out to 600 North Carroll about 5:30am. Someone called 911 because of hearing gunshots.

Cops say as they were en route, a group of black men were standing at 1200 East Residence street. We're told as the officer approached, the men fired several shots at the officer.

The officer was unharmed, as he hid for cover; but his patrol car was hit once in the back window. The suspects ran away.

Police have no description of the men involved, other than they were wearing white, red and black T-shirts.

If you have any information for police call Crime Stoppers at 436-TIPS.
