VALDOSTA (WALB) - The person who represents some of you in Congress could change if new Congressional district maps revealed Monday by state Republicans are approved.

The biggest changes in our area come for First District Congressman Jack Kingston who would no longer represent any counties in our region.

He would lose Coffee County to the 12th District now represented by John Barrow.

He's more concerned about losing Lowndes County and Moody Air Force Base which would go to the 8th District represented by Austin Scott.

"I would like to be helpful to Moody in the event of base realignment and closure. Moody has been on that list before, so I'm sorry that I don't represent it anymore. I would always hope that my friends in Valdosta always know that I'll be there. I'm on the team. Once on the team, always on the team," Kingston said.

Second District Democrat Sanford Bishop would lose Thomas, Brooks, and part of Lowndes Counties to the 8th District and would pick up Macon and most of Bibb County.
