Raiders banking on experience

Southland Academy head coach Tim Goodin is continuing to build the Raider program back to prominence in the GISA.  The Raiders will return a lot of experience on both sides of the ball with 11 starters back.  Quarterback Jake Hood returns but his backfield will be new.  Clay Oxford, Lawton Williams and Logan Dethridge are ready to lead the ground game.

The best news on offense is the line being led by Rob Rush.  Lawton Williams and Ryan Johnson will anchor the defense at linebacker with Andrew Alexander a two year starter up front but what has head coach Tim Goodin feeling better about this season is the Raiders have back-ups behind those starters who now are able to help out.

Goodin said "Definitely the depth is a big deal in games because if we can play 24 or 25, we won't be overmatched by others that are playing everybody one way."

Southland opens at home Friday against Brookwood.
