Unemployed Valdosta man wins lottery

An unemployed Valdosta man wins $250,000 playing Mega Millions.

We broke the story on our facebook page.

55-year old James Peterson got the winning ticket at this Quick Change convenience store on Valdosta Highway.

He matched the first five winning numbers in the July 29th Mega Millions Drawing.

Peterston claimed his prize today at the Tifton Lottery office.

Peterson told lottery officials he was laid off six months ago after budget cuts at the hospital where he worked.

He said the win came at a wonderful time.
