ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A rash of recent copper thefts, especially from air conditioner units, has caused some people to look for solid preventative measures.

Copper Dogs, a business that makes steal cages to protect AC units, says thieves can't cut through them like they can regular chain link fences.

The company has been in business for about a year and a half now, and it's never had any reports of people breaking through them.

Staff says, since the copper thefts have gone up, they've been getting more orders for these cages.

"You can put a camera up but it will just show a person walking away with your copper," said Copper Dogs Marketing Salesperson, Jason James. "This cage protects your unit. Copper thefts have gotten very popular, so the steal cages deter that from happening."
