The website, dtownalbany.com, is an interactive way to stay in the know about events and attractions in the area.
It also provides a current directory of downtown officials and news from merchants. The newspaper will be featured around town free of charge. The innovative platforms are designed especially to reach out to young people who visit downtown.
City manager, Wes Smith, says, "Part of it is the young folks and how they like electronic media.They can go into the website and find out because much of this is geared to the younger people and we like that market down here."
City leaders say the website and paper will build buzz about downtown and give downtown businesses new places to advertise.
