A concerned citizen is stepping up to help the children who have been devastated by the tornado in Oklahoma.More >>
There's money available for area non-profit groups that help cancer patients.
The Southwest Georgia Cancer coalition is encouraging community organizations to apply for 2011 Cancer Care Grants.
Grants up to $4,000 will be awarded to programs to help patients with out of pocket expenses.
"Many of the critical needs that patients have and part if they are on a fixed income or if they are not able to work during treatment, these kinds of programs really help, so it allows us to extend our reach across the region by working with partners," says Denise Ballard, Cancer Prevention and Control V.P.
The patients served by the money must live in the Cancer Coalition's 31 county service area.
