THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  Thomas County Central is in a reloading mode this season after losing talent on both sides of the football including defensive end Ray Drew.

Jalen Sneed will take Drew's spot on the defensive line.

He's one of 4 returning starters on defense as well as senior linebacker Jonathon Esther.

On offense, running back James Davis is the lone returner of the skilled players.

Adam Choice will take over for the departed Eric Dodson at quarterback.

The good news is he'll be behind the entire offensive line from last season.

The Jackets are hungry to get back to the playoffs after being bounced out in the first round last year but head coach Bill Shaver says the team still has a lot of work to do.

Head coach Bill Shaver said. "We're looking to try to improve. Improve on fundamentals and improving on tackling. I don't think we tackle really well. In the backfield, improve on our execution."

Running back James Davis said. "We 're just working on tempo and executing plays."

Linebacker Jonathan Esther "We're trying to get better so win can be region champs and try to make it to state this year."

Thomas County Central opens the season against crosstown rival Thomasville on August 26th at Thomas County Stadium.
