BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - South Georgia D.A. Joe Mulholland shut down five internet cafes in Bainbridge.
RFD Business Center, Big Dawg Calling Cards, The Network Sports Bar and Grill, Internet Cafe, and G-P Net Internet Cafe are all closed.
Mulholland says they appeared to be legitimate from the outside, but really housed illegal gambling operations. "Our goal was to get them out of the community. They prey on the weakest members of our society. What they're doing is blatantly illegal. We were happy that we were able to go ahead and get them out of our community."
Mulholland says he's working with other D.A.'s to get legislation passed that will make gambling laws more clear.
