STATESBORO, GA (WALB) - Number one ranked Georgia Southern continuing to prepare for the 2011 season.
With the Eagles now fully accustomed to the option offense of head coach Jeff Monken, the coach has had time to work some backups.
Like quarterback Jerick McKinnon who has gotten some work with coach Monken giving starter Jaybo Shaw some rest after offseason surgery.
Jerick McKinnon said. "The first year a lot is getting thrown at you as you come in. The second year everything starts to slow down. You get used to how things are going. Everybody is pretty much meshing together. That is it."
Jeff Monken said. "We are farther ahead right now at this point than we were a year ago. We still have a got a long ways to go. There is a lot of improvement that I would like to see. Certainly not ready to play a game yet. We are getting better."
Georgia Southern opens at Samford on September 3rd.
The November 19th game at Alabama will start at 2:00 p.m. and is pay per view television.
