Rams, Blazers crack top 20

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State and Valdosta State start the year in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll.


Albany State opens the season ranked number nine in the nation after an 11-1 record last season.

The Golden Rams are the only team from the SIAC ranked in the AFCA top 25.

Albany State opens the season September third against Division I Savannah State in Macon.

In week three, Albany State will host a Valdosta State ranked 20th to start the year.

The Blazers got 184 votes in the preseason poll.

VSU opens the season at 14th ranked Wingate.

Last year's DII national champion Minnesota-Duluth is ranked number one.
