LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Lee County making a big step forward in head coach Dean Fabrizio's second season.
The Trojans won seven games last season and made the state playoffs.
Building on that success will not be easy since Lee County has to replace their starting quarterback and top two receivers.
Coach Fabrizio says Matt Mears will slated to start at quarterback and sophomore receiver Josh Carbrera showed big play ability last year as a freshman.
The defense returns their top tacklers in linebackers Thomas Wright and T.C. Carr.
Coach Fabrizio says the unit is better than the stats last year because the quick scoring offense meant his defense was on the field more.
Coach Fabrizio says the goal this year is for this team to live up to their expectations.
Dean Fabrizio said. "We want to win as many games as possible and we want to try to reach out potential. How many games that is where it is? Where it is two, five, ten, 12 or 15. That just depends on the kids and how hard they work. That is our goal each year. Come in and try to win as many as we can."
Lee County opens the season August 26th at home against Baconton Charter.
