The Calhoun County Cougars haven't been to the playoffs in quite some time but head coach John Williams has reason to believe that will change this season.
The Cougars have been limited at practice recently because of the weather but coach Williams says intensity at practice has been at an all time high. The Cougars return 8 seniors, many of who will play both sides of the ball. Aaron Thorton will return at quarterback along with wide receiver Marquez Williams. Defensively, Quartez Brown and Marquez Middleton will help clog up the interior.
With all the iron man football Calhoun County plays, being in shape will be a key ingredient for success this season.
John Williams said "They have been running a little bit during the summer months and we've had a good time getting them into conditioning and I think that's going to be the key to be able to get out there and work hard on both sides of the football"
Marquez Williams said "We are encouraging the young people to come out and work hard the seniors with me now and all of us are just working hard, harder than ever."
Cougars will host Lanier Co. on August 26th.
