The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. There were 60,500 jobs in Albany in June, down by 300, or 0.5 percent, from 60,800 in May. Most of the loss came in state government and the service-related industries.More >>

A woman is in custody, and charged with aggravated assault in connection to a stabbing that left an Albany woman seriously injured with wounds in her chest and buttocks area.

Neighbors at the Dunes Mobile Home park are glad 44-year old Martha Ledbetter is back home after another woman stabbed her several times.

Nichelle Ledbetter says her sister is recovering at home after getting stabbed in her chest and buttocks area around 9:30 Friday night.

"I saw how much blood was on her and said she needed to calm down because she couldn't breathe," said Ledbetter.

Ledbetter was walking from a neighbor's house to her home on the other side of the trailer park when another man and woman approached her. She was stabbed in the yard near a garden hose on lot 41.

Ledbetter's sister says one man grabbed her while 20-year T'Keyah Kennedy stabbed her with what appeared to be a dagger on her key chain.

Ledbetter ran from a nearby yard through her neighbor's yard to a home across the street. People saw her injuries and called 911.

"She was bleeding all up and down her pants," said neighbor Shakila Moore. "All you could see was blood."

Police say a man, who was trying to break up the fight, may have stab wounds too.

Ledbetter was treated and released from the hospital around 1:00 a.m. Saturday. Her sister says she's in a lot of pain but expected to recover.
