New rules for Challenge Cup

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany golf clubs are ready once again to battle it out for the right to say their club is home to the city's best players. The annual Challenge Cup matches will start Saturday at Doublegate Country Club.

River Pointe will be the defending champions. Former Darton golfer Roy Steinberg will lead the Grand Island team. Steinberg says the rules have changed. In the past, the 12 member teams had players from different handicap levels.

This year, the clubs are going to tee it up with their best 11 players and professional. The Challenge Cup starts with best matches Saturday and individual match play on Sunday. Roy Steinberg said.

"What we did this year was we had the opportunity for the best players to qualify. So, then there is no questions about or we just picked the best players in the club."
