VSU soccer ready to go

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - After almost two years of preparation, the Valdosta State women's soccer team is just three weeks away from their first ever games.


The Lady Blazer soccer team started practicing for the first time this week.

Head coach Melissa Heinz is splitting her team up in groups for conditioning for the first week.

then it will the hard part will come for the VSU soccer coach.

There are no returning starters on this year team.

Coach Heinz has the difficult job of picking 11 starters from a roster of 32 players.

Melissa Heinz said. "It does put a different spin on things. We coaches all love know who is going to be our starters. We hope to build on that. But I would say it is all tossed up into the air and that is the exciting part. They are all fighting to be starters."

VSU fans can see the Lady Blazers soccer team scrimmage at the Fieldhouse FanFest Sunday afternoon.

The VSU football team will also scrimmage Sunday at 3:00 p.m..
