Baconton Charter ready for season two

Posted: Updated:

BACONTON, GA (WALB) - Baconton Charter School head coach Glen Palmer knows starting a football program requires patience.

Palmer knows his Blazers are going to have to learn to walk before they can run with big dogs in Class A.

The Blazers are back and wanting to build off their first varsity season where they won two games.

Brock Pinson is the Blazers quarterback and he will be handing off to tailback Baccari McDuffie.

Lineman Richard Watson will open the holes on offense and close them on defense.

Coach Palmer says the biggest boost is to the coaching staff.

Former Bainbridge High assistant Johnny Hayes will run the defense and former Pelham head coach Jim Morrell is the Blazers offensive coordinator.

Palmer says another plus is their program is starting to grow roots.

Glen Palmer said. "Our senior, we have one senior this year, he has been with us for all four years. Some of the other guys were with our middle school program. I think we have learned. Hopefully, we are ready to turn it up a notch this year and be competitive."

Baconton Charter will open the season next Friday against Pelham.
