Joyner ready to lead ASU offense

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - When he played quarterback, Uyl Joyner was a coach on the field.

It is no surprise Joyner's coaching career is off to a rapid start.

Just seven years after he led Albany State to an SIAC title, Joyner is now their offensive coordinator.

Before his playing days with the Rams, Joyner led Dougherty to their state title in 1997.

A decade later, Joyner was the offensive coordinator for the Trojans under then head coach Charles Flowers.

Head coach Mike White also knew of Joyner's leadership abilities and hired him three years ago to coach the Golden Rams quarterbacks.

Now Joyner is running the offense and the coach has all the confidence in his young coordinator.

Head coach Mike White said. "I think he is going to be very knowledgeable. I think he is going to do a good job making adjustments for our offense. I think he has the guys attention out there and will do a good job."

ASU puts on full pads on Friday.
