Blazers ready for contact

Posted: Updated:

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Down in Valdosta, the Blazers are ready to put on the full pads on Friday.

Head coach David Dean remains pleased with the effort his players are giving during the hot temperatures.

Four straight days of practice are starting to wear on the Blazers physically and coach Dean says he is looking to see which players can stay focused mentally when they are tired.

After four days in shorts, the coaches and players are ready for some contact as they continue to work towards their season opener in three weeks.

Head coach David Dean said. "When you start putting all 11 going against each other knowing there is tackling involved and blocking involved, that is where we find out which players can help you."

Quarterback Austen Roberts said. "You learn a little bit especially in the trenches. In the trenches, you get to learn a little bit more about the o-line and d-line. Everybody is, you can tell everybody is real excited to get them on. There was a little popping out here with just shoulder pad."

VSU fans are invited to Sunday's Fieldhouse Fanfest.

The Blazer football and women's soccer teams will both scrimmage on Sunday.

The fun starts at 3:00 p.m..
