THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Two men remain in the Thomas County Jail Thursday charged with a combined 17 drug and firearms offenses.

Police got a tip that Charles Burke and William Harper would be delivering meth to the Comfort Inn in Thomasville.

Drug agents say when they showed up, a startled Burke dropped a large bottle in which meth was mixing.

They found two loaded guns in Harper's truck and a lot of drugs. "We then found over 93 pills of Xanax, numerous hydrocodone, numerous diazepam, numerous components they were using to manufacture the meth and also finish the meth," said Narcotics Commander Kevin Lee.

Burke is charged with meth possession, manufacturing meth, unlawful possession of ephedrine, firearm use by a convicted felon in the commission of a crime, possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute, Diazepam possession with intent to distribute, alprazolam possession with intent to distribute, and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Harper is charged with the same offenses in addition to firearm possession by a convicted felon. Both suspects were denied bond.
