The emergency management director in Berrien County has been fired.
Michael Hand was notified Wednesday that he and deputy director Darlene Nix's positions have been eliminated.
Hand says he doesn't have any hard feelings toward county commissioners.
He understands they had to find ways to cut spending.
He's been the EMA director for five years.
Hand says he accomplished a lot in five years as EMA director including bringing fire departments into compliance and bringing the code red alert system on line.
Berrien County EMA will be consolidated with the 9-1-1 office.
