Albany Police Americorps Cadets are helping elderly and disabled people in downtown Albany avoid becoming crime victims.

The cadets hosted a Neighborhood Watch Fair at Hudson Malone Towers Wednesday afternoon.  They shared crime prevention tips to help keep residents safe.

Many of them say they worry they could be targeted. Hudson Malone Towers resident Ann Mike said I'm afraid to even go to Walmart, because they are breaking in, and they follow you as you go to your cars and everything."

Albany Police Americorps cadet Charmagne Preston said  "We just want to make sure they are not taken advantage of in the community. And that's why we are here. To give them tips on crime prevention, identity theft, and also theft protection."

The Americorps Cadets also provided lunch for the residents and even played bingo with them.
