VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - One of the big decisions Valdosta State head coach David Dean has to make this month is who will be his starting quarterback.
Austen Roberts and Brett Whitmire both saw playing time as the starter last season but there are others entering the race.
One is Cayden Cochran.
Cochran threw for 24 hundred yards and 20 touchdowns last season at Coffeyville, Junior College.
He walked-on at Oklahoma and played received during spring ball for the Sooners.
Cochran wants to play under center and transferred to VSU.
Another candidate could be true freshman Devin Blankenship out of Brantley County who had a good first day of practice on Monday.
David Dean said. "He has been in this offense for several years and understands it. So, it is little easier progression for him. I thought he had an outstanding day throwing to guys he had never thrown to before."
VSU will practice in full pads on Friday.
