BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Burglars swiped nearly $35K in cash early Sunday morning from a Decatur County convenience store near the Florida line.

Police say around 2:00 a.m., unknown burglars broke into Bishops Travel Center convenience store. They disabled the alarm system and removed a safe from the wall.

They took cash and 500 cartons of cigarettes. Investigators don't think this is these burglars' first crime. "We sent out teletypes through Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. I received a call from Hinesville, Georgia where they had something similar," said Investigator Redell Walton.

Decatur County Investigators will continue to look through surveillance tape. If you know anything about the crime, they want to hear from you. Call the Sheriff's Office at 248-3044.
