The director of Albany's airport is anxiously awaiting word from the Federal Aviation Administration on the status of the terminal construction project now that the agency's two-week partial shutdown is over.
This is where the new terminal at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport will be built.
The F-A-A is expected to pay for about three-fourths of the cost of the project.
Airport officials have bids in hand.
They're ready to move forward with the project. But they have to wait for the feds to come through with the money.
Southwest Georgia. Regional Airport Director Yvette Aehle said "Obviously we have bids. The bids are held for 120 days. So the prices are on hold until the end of November. But we need to do something, sooner rather than later."
Construction of the 36,000 square foot terminal should take about a year and a half.
