A father is charged with reckless conduct after his two children were found alone in an Albany motel room.

Albany Police were called to the Dollar Inn on North Slappey Boulevard just before 10:00 Friday morning.

Neighbor Denise Howard heard the children inside the room and saw Randy Loud leave in his car.

When she checked to see if they had been left alone, a boy believed to be about 4-years old answered and told her his mom was at work.

He and his younger sister were alone. Howard called police.

"If they had got in there and gotten hurt that would be on my conscious for the rest of my life, but it it just broke my heart I can't stand it no more," said Denise Howard, called 911. Police called in the Division of Family and Children Services.

Officers arrested Loud when he showed back up at the hotel later.

He told police he left to run a couple of errands.
