THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Tthe Thomasville High Bulldogs are definitely in a reloading mode this season.
The Bulldogs lost 18 starters from last year's team that made it to the AA state quarterfinals.
One of the biggest losses was Jeffrey Dyson who is now playing at South Alabama.
That means there is plenty of competition for starting positions during August.
At quarterback, Quintez Spears, Paye Dixon and Davontay Jones are battling for the top spot on the depth chart.
Head coach Richie Marsh knows his young pups are going have to grow up quickly in rugged region 1-AA.
Richie Marsh said. "Alot of opportunities for some kids to play. We have some competition for those kids trying to fight to win those spots so we're excited about it."
Defensive end Marques Maxwell said. "We're physical enough to do what we want to do. We just have to come together. This region is going to be really tough but we like it tough. We like playing teams that make us better and everything. Its going to be a good season."
Thomasville opens the season at home on August 20th against Lovett.
