ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For a third time in four years, Sherwood Christian Academy has a new head football coach.
New coach Otis Covington is not really new to the players since he was an assistant last year under former head coach Reginald Mitchell.
Covington doesn't inherit a lot in his first season.
The Eagles lost their quarterback, running back, entire defense line and four offensive line starters.
Sherwood Christian does return backs Mack Green and Derek Allen.
Brett Shepard is penciled in as the starting quarterback.
Jeremy Landers is ready to lead the offensive line and noseguard Aaron Daniels is going to anchor the defense that also returns cornerback Rashard Davis.
The big concern for the Eagles is there is no depth on the roster.
Otis Covington said. "What we do have is very good conditioned group of young men. The guys that we do have been here most of the summer. Just this morning we had about 95% pass our conditioning test which was excellent. They are going to be in shape and they are going to have to endure throughout the season in AAA."
Sherwood Christian opens the season August 19th at home against Deerfield-Windsor.
