Leaders in our area say they'll continue with their traditions until they're instructed otherwise.

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Problems with fuel tank straps forced Ford to recall more than a million full size pickups. But it might not be a major problem in our area.

The recalled trucks include 1997 though 2003 F-150 trucks, some 1997 through 99 F-250's, and some 2002 to 2003 Lincoln Blackwoods. The strap securing the gas tank could rust and cause the tank to detach from the vehicle.

South Georgia dealers say it mainly affects trucks in cold weather states, but they can check the status of your vehicle. "If you'll give us your vin number we can go through and pull a report and tell you whether it's affected or not affected," said Service Manager Jake McDowell.

Most of the affected vehicles were sold or are registered in the Northeast and Midwest. Ford dealers will replace the straps.
