LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Lee County infielder Daniel Nichols has dreamed of playing baseball at the University of Georgia and he will get that chance.
Nichols committed to sign with the University of Georgia after Bulldog coach David Perno offered him a scholarship two weeks ago.
Nichols was one of Lee County's top hitters last spring.
He batted over 400 and was tied for the team lead in homeruns and runs batted in.
Daniel has played the corner positions on the infield for Lee County.
Georgia wants him to do the same in Athens but also work some behind the plate at catcher.
Daniel Nichols said. "I caught a little bit my freshman year but not too much. We will see how it works. They want me to play first and third too. Move around a be a little versatile. We will see how that works."
Daniel Nichols' older brother Thomas played three years at Georgia Tech and one season last year in the Los Angeles Angels minor league organization.
Daniel will sign with Georgia in November.
