Investigators think vagrants are responsible for burning a travel trailer and burglarizing a home early Friday morning.

Albany firefighters say arson was definitely the cause of the blaze that destroyed a travel trailer about 12:30 Friday morning behind a home in the 200 block of Barton Avenue.

The backdoor of the home was kicked in and the inside was ransacked. The tenant, Andrew Thomas, is in jail for probation violation.

Investigators found drug paraphernalia in the home and the travel trailer.

"Anyplace that's not secure, people that are going to do illegal drugs, or those kinds of things, will get on the site. And these vacant properties are places they are going to habitate," said Albany Fire Chief James Carswell.

The home was not damaged by fire. Police are not sure if anything was stolen.
