Albany Penney store celebrates its remodel

A Four million dollar renovation at Albany's J. C. Penney is complete and the store will celebrate this weekend.

After a six month renovation, the 75,000 square foot store is much more open and bright. It has more spacious fitting rooms and a Sephora make up center.

They hired 12 more associates and plan to hire 75 more for the holiday shopping period.

J. C. Penney has had a store in Albany since 1925. The manager says the retail giant believes in South Georgia's economic future.

"It's been a commitment in this community for a very long time. And so this is just the latest commitment that Penney's is making to say to Southwest Georgia, we are here for the long haul," said JC Penney manager Joseph Iles.

 J. C. Penney in Albany will cut the ribbon on the renovation Friday morning and will have sales and give-aways throughout the weekend.
