ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The countdown for the start of the high school football season continues.
Teams will be able to put on helmets and pads next week.
The Deerfield-Windsor Knights are already on the practice field.
The team is working out in helmets and shorts this week.
They head to Georgia Southwestern for camp next week.
The Knights goal is to win a third GISA state title in four years this season.
Head coach Allen Lowe says that goal is a long way off.
What is more pressing is to be ready to play the first game at rival Sherwood Christian.
Allen Lowe said. "We are excited about it. We have actually bumped that thing up. We have got a game in just a little over three weeks. We don't have a lot of time to practice. They are in the same boat we are. It will be a good start to the year."
Deerfield-Windsor plays at Sherwood Christian on August 19th.
