Fragmented sleep may cause memory loss

If you wake up frequently in the night, you may have something to worry about in the morning.

New research shows when sleep is frequently interrupted, memory suffers.

The research was conducted on mice, but an Albany doctor says it's the same in people.

"Lack of sleep or disruption of sleep can certainly lead to memory problems or problems in your mental function on the following day, especially if this has been going on for long periods of time," said Doctor Ralf Augenstein.

Broken sleep also affects people addicted to alcohol and those with sleep apnea.
