A south Georgia police chief was arrested Tuesday on charges of simple battery and giving false information.
Lakeland Police Chief Michael Slusher turned himself in at the Atkinson County Jail Tuesday morning. He posted $3,500 bond and was set free around noon.
Slusher told WALB News that he does not agree with the charges.
He says he was at a birthday party in Pearson Friday night when three men got into a fight with his friend.
He says he stepped in to protect his friend, but a Pearson Police officer filed criminal charges against him.
