Target and the Salvation Army teamed up to help kids get a head start back to school. All across the US, Target donated gift cards to students in need.

They partnered with the salvation army to pre-select 25 kids from our area. Volunteers were on hand as students picked out paper, pencils, and protractors getting ready for the first day.

The Target School Spree is one way the company plans to help more students finish school. "We had that chance to pick people who wouldn't be first on the list. With the way the economy is, everybody could use a hand up," said Captain of Salvation Army Doug McClure.

A total of $1 million were given in gift cards, for Salvation Army to distribute.
